This study aims at examining on the relationship between food and thinking in Baek-seog's Poetry. For this purpose, this study investigated and studied on the food and thinking which was showing in his entire poetry. Foods serve as a momentum or intermediation of thinking frequently. That is a distinctive feature of Baek-seog's Poetry. This study investigated his poems which was to be classified into three aspects; the poems of Sa-seum(『사슴』), the poems of travels, and the poems of the northern section. We can find some kinds of characteristics in his poetry. In the poems of Sa-seum, the childhood speakers of his poems concentrate his consciousness upon sufficiency of sense experience. At this time, food is a sign of affluence. In the poems of travels, the poetic subject start thinking in earnest. At this time, foods serve as a momentum or intermediation of thinking. This case poems show a spread of thinking and sometimes poetic speakers experience a feeling of mental lack. In the poems of the northern section, especially poetic speakers looked back the passed time and space by a process of his deepening of thinking. Baek-seog's internal reflection possess the characteristics of fatalism and self-love. We can know this in his poetry dealing with the northern section(Manchuria) experiences.
