By the UCP, banks must examine a presentation to determine, on the basis of the documents alone, whether or not the documents appear on their face to constitute a complying presentation. The UCP 600 has new articles regarding the bank’s examination of transport documents. This article explains these new UCP 600 articles with the UCP 600 Commentary published by the ICC and the related Korean Court's decisions. The importance and the special characteristics of transport documents in the world trade and payment mechanism has to be fully considered by the actors in the LC process.
