Goguryeo and Baekje had lots of offensive and defensive battles to take the Yeseong River from the middle and late 4th century. The relation between the two countries became Goguryeo's superiority after King Gwanggaeto's enthronement. And Baekje transferred the capital from Hanseong to Ungjin in 475 after the invasion of King Jangsu(413~491). But Baekje could strike back against Goguryeo in the reign of King Dongseong(479~501) at once. As a result, there was a neutral zone from the north of Charyeong Mountains to the Han River between Goguryeo and Baekje. And Baekje King Muryeong(501~523) constructed a defense line of in the north of Imjin River successfully. By the way, Goguryeo could get back the north area of Han River in 529. It was a product of the victories at Hyeolseong and Ogok battles against Baekje. Since 548, Goguryeo had put pressure on Baekje and Silla centering around Ghungju, a strongpoint for Goguryeo's attacks, at the same time. However they lost the area of Han River in 551, because of the counterattack of the allies between Baekje and Silla. Eventually, Silla took possession of the area of Han River in 553, after the alliance-abrogation with Baekje.
