The PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) bottle waste can be transformed into recycled fiber, but the domestic plastic waste is not well recycled. PET bottles are collected at the apartment complex, and collected bottles are repacked and sent to centralized recycling centers, where bottles are shredded, cleaned, and separated from different materials. In the meantime, it is easy to be contaminated, and it is recommended that PET bottles are separately shredded and collected at the place where they are thrown away. In this paper, we propose a label detection method for PET waste bottles, because in general labels are different materials from PET. Labels are limitedly detected by vision-based techniques, thus a complementary method is required.
