This study is focused on what green performs a role as in-between elements that make close relations betweenbuildings and outdoor spaces and how the expression method of green affect user’s experience. The purpose of this study isto devise various design methods on green as an in-between element through researching the potential of green in outdoorspace of multi-complex commercial buildings. This study as a study method classifies the type of in-between elements by theanalysis of related studies, and conducts field research for three multi-complex commercial buildings to produce the affordanceof green. The green affordance produced in this study includes attraction of behavior, richness of space experience by thevisual perception principle, and invigoration of sense stimulus by the visual texture. We can grasp that the green affordancestimulates activities such as the leading of exploration behavior, the flexible behavior and the sensible delight. The significanceof this study can summarized as followings, classifying the type of in-between elements, producing the green affordance thatmakes space experience rich, and presenting a concrete method to use the green as an in-between element.
