The purpose of this study is to examine the experience that the women in their 30s and 40s learning ballet and the experiential significance on them. Based on the examination, this study intended to understand the essence and roles of adult ballet and find its values as lifelong education. To attain the objective, 12 female participants who was learning ballet were selected for this study and data was collected from FGI. To attain the objective, 12 female participants who were taking part in adult ballet classes at department store cultural centers were chosen for Qualitative Research Methods in FGI(Focus Group Interview). Data was collected from this interview, open coding was applied to the data based on the grounded theory methodology and the data were analyzed. In open coding result, 143 segments, 67 concepts and 17 sub-categories were drawn and they were again grouped into 5 superordinate categories. 5 superordinate categories include physically positive change, psychological healing and restoration, formation of social relationship, satisfaction with the artistic need and my happy life. In addition, it turned out that, as sub-category, physically positive change has the development of sound and right body, body awareness and change, therapeutic effect on body; psychological healing and restoration includes stress relief, flow experience, self-development and satisfaction of selfrealization needs, active participation, comparison and stimulation, healing, emotional anxiety factors; formation of social relationship has community building and recommendation and knowledge sharing of ballet; satisfaction with artistic need contains the general increase of interest and the expansion of interest to other cultures and arts; and my happy life includes happiness, life and I (self). In conclusion, the participants turned out to have experienced physical, psychological, social, artistic change through learning and experiencing ballet. Furthermore, they could derive the meaning of ‘my happy life’ from finding their own significance in ballet. In other words, ballet was considered as an important process to find one’s ultimate happy life. Like this, since adult ballet meets the ultimate goal of lifelong education and the essence of dance education for adulthood, adult ballet is considered to play educational roles and possess values for lifelong education
