As most herbal medicines are natural products, mycotoxin might be easily contaminated during the stages of cultivation, harvesting, storage and distribution. For the convenience of testers who use the testing methods suggested in the Korean Pharmacopoeia for quality control of herbal medicines, this study aimed to improve the mycotoxin test method, which is listed on the Korean Pharmacopoeia.
The improved method is developed by referring to mycotoxin test methods provided from foreign official compendiums such as USP, EP, JP, CHP and research papers, etc. The improved method is a simultaneous analysis method using an immunoaffinity column and a high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detector(HPLC-FLD). The herbal medicine used in the present study was the Cinnamomi cortex. Also, the developed method was validated by the AOAC official methods and the validation guideline of drug products suggested from MFDS.
