This dissertation is about the characteristics of SONNA, demonstrative connective noun and SOUIU, noun to suffix. I collected nouns to suffix, SONNA and SOUIU, from BCCWJ’(Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese) using the ‘classification vocabulary’ categories. As a result, SONNA and SOUIU, nouns to suffix, have many similarities, while a large difference to the number of examples. Especially, there are a number of nouns to suffix as SONNA, including words which are related time, family, proper nouns, remarks with disparaging meaning and words with indicating a vague sense, meanwhile, particularly there are many words related space as nouns to suffix and words associated with methods. I think that there is the function of general concept most significantly related to this phenomenon. Because SONNA is strong as the function of general concept, accordingly emotions such as ‘negative’ or ‘unexpected’ and evaluative meaning appear. On the other hand, because SOUIU is weak for the function of general concept, so I think that the emotions and evaluative meanings don’t appear essentially because of involving in this phenomenon.
