On November 8, 2016, Donald Trump, Republican Presidential nominee, was elected the 45th President of the United States. Because Mr. Trump is a political outsider with little experience in diplomatic, his has sent shock waves. In the face of such a situation, Various analyses and forecasts are rampant in the countries involved as to how will the ‘Neoisolationism’ and ‘America First’ be conducted as the U.S. foreign policy, and as to how will Trump’s foreign policy result in any changes in the international relations. Especially, the relationship between the U.S. and China would be by the situation. There is a growing discussion about the impact of Trump’s ‘Neo-isolationism’ and ‘America First’ foreign policy on China. After President Xi Jinping’s inauguration, in 2012, Chinese government proposed “a New Type of Major-Power Relationship” to the U.S. The concept of “a New Type of Major-Power Relationship”, proposed by then vice-president Xi Jinping, is developed to protect China’s core interest with the mutual respect rather than war-causing conflicts in the relationship with the U.S. Even though the Chinese government, of course, cannot loosen all the strings toward president-elect Donald Trump, it seems more advantageous for China than the period of the Obama administration. Therefore, this paper examines the backgrounds of a New Type of Major-Power Relationship and assesses its goals and objectives. Moreover, the paper explores the direction and development of “a New Type of Major-Power Relationship”.
