On the theory of interrelatedness between technologies, there is a twoway interactive relationship between producer services and manufacturing, which is not a simple causal relationship. Using the case of China’s panel data of 27 manufacturing industries and three producer services during 2009-2013, we build a simultaneous equations model to test whether there is an interaction effect of technology innovation between producer services and manufacturing industries, especially exploring the technology interrelatedness mechanism between the two. Based on the empirical results, this study can draw several relevant implications as follows: First of all, the improvement of technological innovation level in Chinese producer services is a pulling factor to enhance the overall development of manufacturing industries, and the level of technological innovation of manufacturing industries also has a positive effect on the development of producer services, but the former effect is much stronger. Secondly, after dividing producer services into three sectors, we found that the technological innovation in the two sectors, transportation storage postal services and information transmission software sector, has a significant role in promoting the development of manufacturing industry as a whole; but the third sector, scientific research & technology service, is a technological obstacle to enhancing the development of manufacturing industries in China. Thirdly, our empirical results show there is a significant interactive relationship of technology innovation between labor or capital-intensive manufacturing industries and producer services; but the correlation between technology-intensive manufacturing industries and producer services is relatively weak.
