In the first half of 2020, the spread of the COVID-19 virus created an unprecedented emergency. The impact is on the global sphere, and no country or region is an exception. Most countries seem to agree on the principles of rapid tracing, diagnosis, quarantine, and treatment of viral infection to alleviate the crisis. The challenge is to find an efficient way to implement the first step, tracing the path of infection. In this paper, we look at digital contact tracing technology using mobile phones that are currently being implemented, and focus on issues related to privacy and technology development. We also discuss issues to be considered, especially on Bluetooth based contact tracing technology co-developed by Apple and Google. Digital contact tracing technology is still in its early stage and will only have a full effect when combined with future data analysis, prediction of infection pathways using artificial intelligence, and advancement of proactive countermeasures. Regarding the privacy issue of the digital contact tracing app, consensus is in the process of being made through various policy and technical proposals. Even if the currently developed digital tracing technology guarantees anonymity and privacy, it is a matter to keep in mind the ownership and utilization of the abstracted big data accumulated as a result.
