The development of international trade has provided a driving force for the global economic growth. In spite of the setbacks encountered in the development of international trade in recent years, the overall trend of its development has been moving upward. At the same time, international trade is becoming more and more complex, and disputes arise frequently in practice. The contract of sale and purchase is one of the basic bases for international trade of goods. It is the basis for standardizing the operation of trade and settling possible disputes. And Incoterms as an international trade term makes business work effectively for everyone by facilitating trillions of dollars in global trade each year. These rules help importers and exporters around the world understand their responsibilities and avoid costly misunderstandings. This paper will explain the evolution process of Incoterms, as well as the relatively important changes of Incoterms 2020, so as to further clarify the influences of Incoterms 2020 on foreign trade enterprises and the potential risks which may arise after using it. In this way, it is hoped that the thesis can provide certain help to the foreign trade enterprises to avoid risks of international trade when they sign contracts with foreign trade companies.
