Background: Palmoplantar pustulosis is a rare chronic inflammatory dermatosis localized to palms and soles. Palmoplantar pustulosis is known to be more common in female and strongly associated with smoking. However, clinical characteristics of palmoplantar pustulosis patients in Korea were not well evaluated yet. Objective: This study aims to evaluate clinical characteristics of Korean palmoplantar pustulosis patients and compare them with previous studies Methods: Patients diagnosed with palmoplantar pustulosis until 2019 September at Seoul National University Hospital was retrospectively reviewed. Patients whose medical record contain enough information were finally included. Demographic and clinical characteristics at first visit were collected. Results: A total of 160 patients were finally analyzed. Of them, 98 (61.3%) were female and average 47.42 years old at first visit. Age at disease onset was average 42.85 years and palm was the most frequently involved site at first. 36 (22.5%) and 13 (8.1%) patients have personal or family history of psoriasis respectively. Among 53 patients having information about smoking, 30 (58.8%) patients were current or ex-smoker. Conclusion: This study shows demographic and clinical characteristics of Korea palmopustular psoriasis patients. Palmoplantar pustulosis was more prevalent in women and showed association with smoking also in Korea. Most characteristics were similar to previous studies, but association with obesity and certain systemic disease were not observed in this study. Prospective multi-center study will be required to confirm these results in the future.
