Erythrodermic psoriasis is a rare and very severe form of psoriasis with a reported prevalence of about 1-2%. Most cases are caused by exacerbation of chronic plaque psoriasis and may be potentially life-threatening if untreated conditions. It is characterized by diffuse erythema and desquamation associated with systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, general weakness and edema. Several conditions have been reported as triggering factors, including withdrawal of topical or systemic steroids, drug reactions, infection, systemic illness, sun exposure, and emotional stress, but the exact pathogenesis has not been fully understood. If the pre-existing psoriasis deteriorates after infection, it is uncertain whether it is cause by the infection itself or by the drug administered. Herein, we report on an interesting case of a 51-year-old woman who developed the erythrodermic psoriasis after the cellulitis of lower extremity.
