Report Errors
The increase in population and urbanization by the progress of civilization after the industrial revolution were changing rapidly. This study was to investigate the practitioners in various fields like design educators and politicians, etc. who had introduced the environmental friendly concepts from the thinkers and writers since the mid 19th century when beginning to assert the symbiosis between the human rights and nature as well as their representative books and thoughts. Ecological design from the ecological theory and concept that was emerged with their thoughts has been utilized as alternative for the coexistence of human and environment. Under the large domain like Ecological Design, it was called as Eco Design, Green Design, Eco Friendly Design, and Sustainable Design, etc. by various names and this study was to investigate the similar and different perspectives of design. In particular, this study was to introduce the design concept, called and used as 'Sustainable Design' by classifying the time, space and process. As a result, the indistinct concept like 'Sustainability' according to the design cases could be specifically recognized from the design perspective. To conclude, this researcher expects that further studies on the further ecological design will make progress for the coexistence of environment and human activity, and sustainable development in the future.
