Microalgae, considered as a fascinating bio-platform for CO₂ capture, can be used as cell factories for sustainable production of value-added products. To increase the feasibility of the microalgae process, outdoor mass cultivation has been conducted but the variable sunlight can be the major obstacle to achieving this goal. Here, we cultivated Chlamydomonas reinhardtii mutant cells in microfluidic-based microdroplet photobioreactor to effectively deliver simulated sunlight conditions to individual cells.
