Since polyglycolic acid (PGA) was used as first absorbable surgical suture in 1970s, a variety of biodegradable aliphatic polyesters have been widely used in biomedical fields as implantable or injectable materials such as surgical suture, orthopedic fixation implant, DDS carrier and tissue engineering scaffolds.
