To examine the anti-inflammatory effect of fermented red Playcodon grandiflorum extract (FRPGE) by Lactobacillus planatrum strain, we measured the content of well-known saponins (the platycodin D and platycoside E), antioxidant activities, and analyzed the anti-inflammatory effect of FRPGE in RAW 264.7 cells.The contents of platycodin D and platycoside E, the main components of FRPGE, were approximately 6.57 mg/g dry weight and 1.98 mg/g dry weight, respectively.
