To characterize the anti-metastatic polysaccharide, the crude polysaccharide (TP-0) was isolated from tumeric, and fractioned by gel filtration to obtain purified polysaccharide fractions (TPE-I, -II, -III). Among 4 polysaccharide fractions, TP-0 and TPE-I showed higher production of various cytokines such as IL-6, IL-12 and TNF-α than other fractions. In an assay for natural killer (NK) cell activity, i.v. administration of TP-0 and TPE-I similarly augmented a cytotoxicity of NK cell against YAC-1 lymphoma.
