We recently found that 1-deoxy sphinganine is significantly elevated in lesional skin of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), in parallel with increased levels of CCL17, a chemokine that is induced by IFN-γ and is participate in infiltration of inflammatory immune cells to lesional skin of AD, leading to generation of inflammatory responses and skin barrier abnormalities.
