This study verified whether cadet"s attentional control negatively influences academic burnout by mediating perceived stress. In addition, this study examined differences in attentional control, perceived stress, and academic burnout between cadets of Korea Military Academy and college students. The subject of the present study were 118 cadets and 230 college students, and the measures were Attentional Control Questionnaire(ACQ), Perceived Stress Scale(PSS), and Korean Academic Burnout Scale. The results were follows: First, the relationhsip between attentional control and perceived stress, attentional control and academic burnout, perceived stress and academic burnout showed significant correlation with each other. Second, perceived stress significantly mediated the effect of attentional control on academic burnout. This means that attentional control should be considered in devising interventions to reduce cadets" academic burnout. Third, the total effect, direct and indirect effect in the relationship of attentional control, perceived stress, and academic burnout were significant in both cadets and college students. Based on these results, the implication, limitations of the study and suggestions for further researches were discussed.
