The purpose of this study was to explore the changes of teachers in the process of beginning teacher education in the nursery department of a church school. From November 4 through December 16, 2020, five beginning teachers who had volunteered to serve in the nursery department of a church located in a district of the city of Seoul were respectively interviewed in depth twice, 40 minutes each, via Zoom that is a video communications app, and they received teacher education six times, one and a half hours each. The teacher education revolved around "Christian world view," "spiritual training for teachers," "Christian teacher theory," "the understanding of the development of infants and toddlers(Ⅰ,Ⅱ)" and "teacher-child-parent relationship building and communications." The data that were gathered by the in-depth interviews and reflective journaling were analyzed in a qualitative manner to explore what changes the beginning nursery teachers underwent. As a result, their changes were categorized into five: "reflective thinking on nursery teacher qualifications," "understanding the development of infants and toddlers for the first time and feeling wonder," "becoming a teacher as a specialist, not just as a volunteer or dedicator," "being in need of practical cooperation and help from experts," and "resolving to become a teacher trying to learn all the time and serve gladly." The findings of the study suggest that cooperation from experts and sustained and systemized teacher education are both necessary to select and nurture church school teachers and to help them to develop their professionalism.
