It has been known that the seeds of Allium species have pysiological dormancy (PD) or morphological dormancy (MD) which has an underdeveloped embryo. However, none of the studies have described the seed dormancy type of genus Allium species native to the Korean peninsula. We classified seed dormancy types for four species of Allium genus (A. taquetii H.Lév. & Vaniot, A. senescens L., A. ochotense Prokh., and A. koreanum H.J.Choi & B.U.Oh) that grows wild in the Korean peninsula. As a result of the water uptake test, the four Allium species absorbed more than 35% of water within 12 hours.
