Sedirea japonica is Korean native epiphytic orchid and have a high market potential as potted plants. In this study, the flowering of Sedirea japonica in relation to light intensity during vernalization was investigated. Mature plants were vernalized at 10°C under five levels of light intensity (0, 20, 50, 100, or 200 μmol·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> photosynthetic photon flux (PPF), 12h photoperiod). Cooling was ended after 12 weeks, and the plants were forced in a greenhouse. High light intensity during vernalization increased flowering percentage.
