Purpose: Biotope Area Ratio(BAR) is a comprehensive and unique way to cope with various problems caused by climate change in the landscape field. It is already established as a method to quantitatively evaluate the securing of green spaces and ecological functions within individual land, and the importance of the operation of the ecological area ratio is continuously increasing. We intend to review the operation status of the BAR in G-SEED, which is currently the only legally operated and secured ground, and through this, we will raise problems in system operation and suggest improvements. Method: In this study, a sample survey was conducted to derive and improve the actual problem in which the planting type was not applied in the BAR. A sample model was constructed for buildings that received G-SEED certification in 2020, and the coverage type and planting type of the BAR were compared and the operation status was analyzed. Result: In order to prepare measures to improve the system in the future, it is mandatory to calculate the planting type when calculating the BAR, and at the same time, prepare the minimum calculation standard to induce large-scale planting. In addition, it was proposed to improve the system to make it mandatory to calculate the BAR in order to secure the ecological functions of the high-density non-residential buildings.
