Purpose
Kidney transplantation (KT) has been proven to be the best therapeutic option for end-stage renal disease, yet with the aging society and increasing incidence of diabetes mellitus, patients are more prone to have diseased vessels. Vascular complications are known to occur in 1-23% of kidney transplant recipients, which can lead to poor prognosis. This study aims to report our center’s experience on perioperative endovascular management of arterial insufficiency in patients undergoing KT.

Methods
Data were retrospectively analyzed from KT database at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital between January 2013 and December 2020. Inclusion criteria were cases receiving endovascular procedures for vascular problems within 30 days before or after KT based on preoperative computed tomography abnormalities, intraoperative findings, postoperative elevated serum creatinine levels, increased mean blood pressure or Doppler ultrasound findings. Technical and clinical improvement was evaluated by post-intervention angiography, serum creatinine level, mean blood pressure or Doppler ultrasound.

Results
A total of 8 patients underwent 10 endovascular procedures for arterial insufficiency during the perioperative period of KT. The indications were anastomotic site stenosis in 3 patients, inflow arterial stenosis in 3 patients, combined inflow and renal artery stenosi ... View All
