Objectives
To evaluate the clinical feasibility of tumor localization technique with radio-frequency identification (RFID) clip marker for laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeries.
Methods
We developed the proto-type RFID integrated endoscopic clip (R-clip) and probe to detect it on serosa surface during laparoscopic surgery. A 40kg-pig was used as the specimen for the in-vivo test. Endoscopist performed the application of the R-clip on the porcine gastric mucosa. R-clip was applied 30 times repeatedly in various sites of the porcine stomach. Then, we evaluated the taking time to find the location of R-clip using the probe and confirmed the prediction accuracy with endoscopy and gastrectomy.
