Introduction and Background
In large to massive rotator cuff tears (MRCT), incorporated biceps tendon provide autograft resource of the tendon defect and superior stability of the shoulder joint at long term follow-up. The hypothesis was that incorporated biceps tendon will provide tendon integrity and preservation of acromio-humeral interval (AHI) in MRCT in this arthroscopic biceps-incorporating rotator cuff repair with footprint medialization.
Material and Method
One hundred-seven patients (53 males and 84 females with a mean age of 64.9 ± 8.6 years) with MRCT were enrolled in our study. Arthroscopic biceps-incorporating rotator cuff repair was performed. With footprint medialization, partially released biceps tendon covered defects. Clinical outcomes such as pain VAS, KSS, ASES, UCLA, SST, CS scores and ROM were evaluated at mean 4 year follow-up. Also, serial radiographs and follow-up MRI were used to evaluate AHI, tendon integrity, muscle atrophy and fatty infiltration.
Results
