Introduction and Background
Scapular surgery is usually undertaken by the posterior approach described by Judet. This approach allows access to the whole posterior scapula body but that approach cause large soft tissue injury and incision of deltoid muscle. There is no clinical study of deltoid preserving approach for displaced postero-inferior glenoid fractures (Ideberg type II or Ib). The purpose of this study was to introduce easy and less invasive approach to the postero-inferior glenoid fossa.
Material and Method
Ten patients who had displaced postero-inferior glenoid fractures underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a modified sub-deltoid approach between January 2017 and July 2018. Postoperative computed tomography (CT) scans were performed for evaluation of the reduction state. Seven patients who were followed up for more than 1 year were analyzed clinically and radiologically.
