This study aimed to confirm the correlation among each of the variables in question, including emotional clarity, self-exposure, social support, and post-traumatic growth, and the study also intended to verify the mediating effects of self-exposure and social support in the effects of emotional clarity on post-traumatic growth. For this purpose, a self-reporting time questionnaire survey composed of a questionnaire on the experience of trauma and scales of emotional clarity, self-exposure, social support, and post-traumatic growth was conducted on subjects in the age range of 20~60 years who were residing throughout the country. The SSPS 25.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs were used to analyze the study data on 316 participants collected through questionnaires. Mediation model verification was conducted through structural equation modeling and the key study results of the analysis are as follows. First, as the results of having requested the participants to select all the arduous and painful incidents that they experienced throughout their lives, such incidents included breakdowns of interpersonal relationships (parting, unrequited love, and friendship breakups, etc.), study and work issues, accidents, and injuries, deaths of love ones, and difficulties in adaptation in the order of the frequencies of incidents. Among these incidents, participants responded that the death of their loved ones was the most painful incident. Second, self-exposure had mediating effects on the relationship between emotional clarity and post-traumatic growth. In other words, emotional cognitive clarity was seen to promote one’s exposure and lead to post-traumatic growth, demonstrating the importance of self-exposure. Third, social support had mediating effects on the relationship between emotional clarity and post-traumatic growth. There is a supportive perception that the more clearly you recognize your feelings from trauma, the more you can get help when you need it so that you can feel the support of those around you better. It means affecting post-traumatic growth. Fourth, in the effects of emotional clarity on post-traumatic growth, self-exposure and social support exhibited sequential mediating effects. These results help to clearly recognize emotions and provide proper and balanced self-exposure, and the awareness of receiving the support of those around us is important for making positive changes in individuals. Suggest that it is an element. Lastly, the significance and the limitations of this study, as well as the proposal for the follow-up study, are discussed.
