Particulate matter (PM) has always been a central component of the earth’s atmosphere affecting its climate and ecosystem. Increasing human activities ever since the first Industrial Revolution rapidly changed the quantity as well as the nature of generated PMs, which introduced major air pollutions harmful to human health and environments. Therefore, our government is operating national air quality monitoring network to analyze PM concentration and hazardous chemicals in PMs for monitoring and management of air quality. KRISS has launched a project to develop certified reference materials (CRMs) for quality control and method validation of PM analysis and collected several candidate PM materials, including average urban PMs, road PMs, PMs from municipal waste incineration, and indoor PMs, in large-scale for last two year.
