Ribose is a value-added five-carbon sugar used in the production of riboflavin and inosine monophosphate, and used in energy drinks and supplements. Ribose is biosynthesized through the pentose phosphate pathway from glucose. To increase the productivity of ribose, we randomly mutated Bacillus subtilis using 2-Aminopurine.
