Haem is porphyrin derivative prosthetic group for hemoproteins and it plays important roles in almost all organisms for transporting oxygen, transferring electrons to supply energy. For these reasons, haem has been used in healthcare and dietary supplement industries. Escherichia coli has been developed to produce free haem, but none of studies was able to produce extracellular free haem.
