Selection of relevant animal species is essential in preclinical research for new drug development. For preclinical studies of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), relevant animal species are those express desired epitope and demonstrate a similar cross-reactivity profile as for human. Primates are evolutionary closer to humans than other animal species. Especially, cynomolgus monkey cross-react with therapeutic mAb much higher than other animal species (rodents, rabbit, guinea pig, dogs and pigs) commonly used in preclinical studies such as absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME), efficacy, and toxicity studies in development for mAb drugs. According to previous reports, similarity of Fc receptor (FcRn) for ... View All
