Canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) is a neurodegenerative disease, which is similar to Alzheimer's disease (AD) in human, that results from the age-dependent neuronal loss which cause severe cognitive impairment and behavioral problems. Recent data from a study of 180 owners of aged dogs, 28% of dogs aged 11-12 years showed signs consistent with cognitive dysfunction which then rose to 68% of dogs aged 15-16 years. Although the explosive growth in CDS population is recently observed, still there are no specific treatment option for CDS.
