The author argues about the relationship between Folk Islamic belief and practices in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the author strives to explore Mazar worship, one of the popular Folk Islamic practices among Muslims in Kyrgyzstan throughout this article. There are five study questions that the author attempts to find answers through researching precedent literatures relating to this study, participant observation and personal experiences; What is Mazar?, Why people visit Mazar?, What are historical, religious and cultural backgrounds of Mazar?, What are relational issues between Mazar worship and Islamic belief?, and What are missional applications about Mazar worship? The context of this article is Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia.
One of the main findings through this article is that Mazar worship in Kyrgyzstan relates to Gozuachik and a popular practice among Kyrgyz muslims who are desperately seeking to find practical helps and solutions in their everyday lives. The author suggests that expatriates workers should approach to those who visit Mazar in sharing the good news and praying for them boldly and confidently, so that they can hear about Jesus Christ and be saved in the name of Jesus Christ.
