본 연구는 한국 대학생들의 우울 수준이 실제 정신건강서비스 이용에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지, 또한 정신건강정보이해능력(Mental Health Literacy)이 이들 간의 관계를 매개하는지 검증하였다. 2018년 11월부터 12월까지, 한국의 6개 대학에서 총 305명의 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사가 진행되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0을 사용하여 회귀분석과 로지스틱 회귀분석으로 분석되었다. 자료의 분석결과, 대학생들의 우울은 정신건강서비스 이용에 정적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 정신건강정보이해능력은 우울과 정신건강서비스 이용의 관계를 부분매개 하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 즉, 필요(Need) 요인으로서 우울의 정신건강서비스 이용에 대한 영향에 대한 고려와 동시에 정신건강정보이해능력의 수준이 주요하게 개입되어 있다는 의미이며, 그 중요성이 드러난 만큼 대학생들의 정신건강서비스 이용의 활성화를 위한 정신건강정보이해능력의 향상을 위한 다양한 개입이 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 한국 대학생의 정신건강서비스 이용 촉진을 위한 정책적, 실천적 개입 방안을 제언하였다.
