The purpose of this study is to develop the global citizenship education model for pre-service early childhood teachers and to verify its effects through application. For this purpose, a teaching model was drafted based on literature reviews, analysis of previous research, and focus-group interview. The content validity was verified through pre-application and process of validation for compatibility in order to develop final model. To examine the effectiveness of developed curriculum, 132 3rd year pre-service early childhood teachers from S 3-year college located in A city were selected as the subjects: 41 in an experimental group, 46 in a compare group #1, and 45 pre-service early childhood teachers from Y college located in the same city in a compare group #2. As for the treatment, global citizenship education using handouts and global citizenship education developed from this study were performed in experimental group and compare group #1 for 15 weeks. Preand post-tests were conducted on all 132 pre-service early childhood teachers and one-Way MANCOVA was conducted using SPSS 19.0 program to examine differences among these groups. The findings show that the global citizenship education model developed in this study has positive effects on pre-service teachers’ global citizenship.
