배후발생과정 동안에 leucokinin I 면역반응성 신경세포의 특징적인 변화들이 관찰되었다. 전 배후과정 동안에 식도하신경절 및 흉부신경절에서 면역반응성은 보이지 않았다. 유충 3령의 경우, 3번째 복부신경절부터 세포들이 관찰된 반면에, 5령과 7령이 되었을 때, 첫 번째 복부신경절에서부터 면역반응성을 보였다. 특히 다섯 번째에서 일곱 번째 복부신경절에서는 특이적인 세포들이 나타났다가, 용의 시기가 되면서부터는 사라졌다. 성충 시기에와서는 2쌍의 세포로 유지되었지만, 말부복부신경절에서는 용의 시기보다 1쌍이 증가되었다. 또한, 이러한 면역반응성 세포의 축삭들은 좌우대칭으로 존재하는 세포들과 서로 연결되어 있으며, ventral nerve를 통해 어떤 기관에 도달하여 기능을 가질 것이라고 생각된다.
