This study examines Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s domestic and foreign business performance, and surveys and analyzes the background of the development of its driving forces. It presents the standard business direction by considering the core competencies and business strategies that made it able to rebound as a leading ETC pharmaceutical company in Korea, and then a global pharmaceutical company. Hence, we divided its core competencies based on the value chains across the 75 years of the company’s history. Moreover, achieving continuous corporate growth through a business diversification strategy has allowed it to aim to optimize the value chain such that it can grow further on a global scale in the long-term, concentrate in Research and Development in the mediumand long-terms, focus on marketing in the medium- and short-terms, and foster marketing-based distribution in the short-term. With its current management strategy, the company has been able to add fuel to the fire on both domestic and foreign markets, and will continue to grow and maintain its position as a leading pharmaceutical company in the global market in the future. This research paper is a good reference for companies that have difficulties in achieving localization due to different government regulations.
