다른 해부학적 변이와 마찬가지로 혈관변이에 대한 지식은 수술, 진단, 배안 혈관 시술 등에서 중요하다. 이 보고는 한 의과대학 해부학실습 중 50세 한국인 남성 시신에서 관찰된 뒤배부위 혈관의 복합적 변이에 관한 것이다. 1) 중복아래대정맥을 가지고 있으며, 왼속엉덩정맥이 독특하게 오른아래대정맥으로 이어지고, 왼바깥엉덩정맥이 곧바로 왼아래대정맥이 되는 변이; 2) 왼콩팥정맥이 두 개로 분기되어 왼아래대정맥으로 각각 유입되며, 왼고환정맥이 왼콩팥정맥 중 아래콩팥정맥으로 합류되고 오른고환정맥이 오른콩팥정맥으로 합류되는 변이; 3) 배대동맥에서 온엉덩동맥으로 이른 분기와 온엉덩동맥에서 바깥·속엉덩동맥으로 이른 분기 등 다수의 복합변이를 확인하였다. 이 중 개별적으로 보고된 변이도 있으나, 본 증례와 같이 변이가 복합적으로 나타나는 경우는 매우 드물다. 본 논문에서 밝힌 배부위 혈관의 변이에 관한 지식은 성공적인 외과수술과 영상 진단을 수행하는 데 있어 중요할 것으로 생각된다.
