The present research provides insight from native-English speaking instructors regarding both uninstructed conversation classes, which are dynamic and allow them to design the course freely, and instructed TOEIC classes, where a mandatory syllabus and textbook for the classes are provided. To investigate this, a survey questionnaire was drafted and then distributed to native English speaking professors who had more than 5 years teaching experience at Korean universities. The results of this study revealed that not only did the respondents indicate they preferred to teach the conversation English classes as opposed to the TOEIC classes, the conversation classes were more beneficial for the students, because they did not overwhelm the students with anxiety. This research proposes that is worth considering the opinions of native-English speaking instructors when new English curriculum is being developed.
