The durability of automotive parts is important to be operated over 10-years by the customers. The durability of parts depends on its structure and material properties which composes the part. Automotive interior materials need to keep their performance and resist the aging against temperature change, humidity variation, sun lighting through the glass, and customers behaviors like ingress, egress and jounce etc.
As the materials for direct contact and visible area by customer, appearance textiles need to retain their appearance and function for the life span of automobiles. In this paper, we discuss the general test procedures for evaluating the durability of automotive interior appearance textiles. The test procedures are classified as physical durability, temperature and humidity resistance, chemical resistance and soiling resistance.
