This paper aims to investigate the direction of curriculum design in Korean language and Korean studies at universities overseas. It looks into how the universities in Central and South America teach the Korean language and Korean studies, and analyses the curricula of the universities that offer a department of Korean language or its analogies. Based on the research and analysis, the study identifies what to improve in the Korean language education in those universities. As a result, the study suggests designing the curricula of the courses by connecting the Korean language with Korean studies as an alternative to the established ones. This study shows the characteristics of the online education curriculum with seven advantages.
