Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse (POP), and a variety of procedures can beperformed to correct POP. When deciding on the proper surgical procedure, the surgeon must take into considerationthe individual patient’s risk for surgical complication and prolapse recurrence and her preference. This review willdiscuss the key issues faced in the surgical decision-making process for POP and recommendations based on thecurrent scientific evidence.
