The purpose of this study is to present the basis of the level of verbal oral health literacy and oral health literacy related to oral health knowledge and oral health behavior according to oral health education experience in some primary school students. From March 26 to April 17, 2018, 564 people who understood the purpose of the study and agreed to the survey were selected for the upper grades (4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade) of 4 elementary schools. Results for primary school seniors surveyed for verbal oral health literacy of the oral health and oral health knowledge and educational experience, whether oral health behavior change are as follows. Therefore, more active education is needed and interest and motivation is needed so that oral health education in primary schools can lead to changes in behavior for students. In order to provide repeated oral health education for a long period of time compared to the number of students, only the resident health teachers in primary schools are insufficient, and it is imperative for them to have a professional staff exclusively in charge of oral health education. In addition, oral health education and oral health knowledge will be improved as well as oral health education will be conducted periodically at home with carers so that oral health education can be continuously conducted at home as well as at primary schools.

본 연구는 일부 초등학교 고학년의 구강보건교육 경험 유무에 따른 언어적 구강건강문해력의 수준과 언어적 구강건강문해력이 구강보건지식 및 구강보건행태와의 관련성에 대한 근거를 제시하고자 한다. 2018년 3월 26일부터 4월 17일까지 B시 D구 소재 4개 초등학교의 고학년(4학년, 5학년, 6학년)을 대상으로 연구목적을 이해하고 설문에 동의한 564명을 대상으로 실시하였으며, 초등학교 고학년을 대상으로 구강보건교육경험 유무와 구강보건지식 및 구강보건행태 변화에 따른 언어적 구강건강문해력에 대해 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 초등학교 고학년 대상 구강보건교육이 구강건강관리에 도움이 된다고 생각할수록 구강보건지식도 및 구강보건행태가 높게 나타났다. 구강보건교육이 구강건강 관리에 도움이 된다고 생각할수록 구강보건행태와 구강보건지식도, 언어적 구강건강문해력이 높은 경향을 보였으며 구강보건지식이 높을수록 언어적 구강건강문해력이 높게 나타났다. 따라서 초등학교 내 구강보건교육이 학생들에게 행동의 변화까지 이끌어 낼 수 있도록 보다 더 적극적인 교육이 필요하며 흥미유발과 동기부여가 필요하다. 학생 수에 비해 장기간의 반복적 구강보건교육을 하기에는 초등학교 내 상주하는 보건선생님 만으로는 부족한 실정이며 구강보건교육만을 담당하는 전문 인력이 절실하다 하겠다. 또한 초등학교 내 구강보건 뿐만 아니라 가정에서도 보호자를 통해 구강보건교육이 지속적으로 이루어 질 수 있도록 보호자와 함께 가족단위의 구강보건교육이 주기적으로 이루어 진다면 구강건강문해력과 구강보건지식도가 함께 향상될 것으로 사료된다.
