Purpose - The purpose of this study was a case study that reviewed the risk contents in the WTO subsidy agreements of government-driven R&D projects for SMEs in korea. In particular, this study focused on preliminary feasibility studies. Design/methodology/approach - This study compared three previous cases of preliminary feasibility studies of government-driven R&D projects for SMEs in korea. And those were reviewed for each item, such as the case of trade in products, financial contribution by a government, conferment of benefit, prohibited subsidies, specificity. Findings - If the export amount of the enterprises benefiting from government R&D support is so large that it is to be sued, there is a need to pay attention to the project implementation process. As a countermeasure, A few of things such as the repayment of government support fund and interest, the exclusion of export-related indicators in the assessment selecting corporations and the avoidance of specificity can be considered. Research implications or Originality - Recently, there has been a growing demand for preliminary feasibility studies on government-driven R&D projects. Therefore, this study presented the analysis and implications of the possibility of international trade dispute in government-driven R&D projects for SMEs in korea.
