Modern libraries are data platforms that allow the sharing of large amounts of information, both tangible and intangible. It is the best place for shaping modern culture and contents, and for anyone to share. The library’s user space is essentially a space for sharing. In the library, the meaning of this space for multilateral sharing and its system can be made more practical and evident through the analysis of activity patterns for users’ use of information. The purpose of this study is to analyze the patterns of information usage activities of real users, who are the subjects of using information spaces, through survey and analysis on the cases of public libraries in Korea. It aims to identify and evaluate whether the infrastructure for sharing and communicating information is being effectively established. For analysis, a survey was conducted at five public libraries on the contents of 33 items related to the purpose of use, facilities and satisfaction. As a result, 1) the core part of the library is the IC area, which is a spatial structure that connects the sharing activities of culture and education to the users with the sharing of information. 2)In most cases, the spaces in the IC area constitute an integrated space for data reading(IC)+personal learning(EC). 3)The facilities and space environment presents high satisfaction overall, and the scale part presents satisfactory level of satisfaction. 4)The CSI index, which indicates the level of user satisfaction, is analyzed to be good overall, and the loyalty index using re-visit and recommendation intention index is extracted very high. The results of this study have a meaning as a basic data that can be used for the proposal of new spatial services in the construction of public libraries based on social and cultural phenomena such as shared culture.
