역할모델은 기업가로서의 진로선택에 영향을 미치는 핵심변수로 알려져 왔다. 그러나 대학생들을 대상으로 역할모델의 중요성을 살펴본 연구는 그다지 많지 않은 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 역할모델의 효과가 대학생들의 지각된 자기효능감과 심리적 특성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것에 목적을 두었다. 본 연구를 위해 한국과 중국 대학생 총 446명이 연구에 참여하였다. 수립된 가설 검증을 위한 분석도구로 SPSS (PASW statistic 18 version)통계 패키지를 사용하였다. 한국과 중국 대학생들을 대상으로 확장시킨 본 연구의 검증 결과, 청년들의 기업가정신 증진을 위한 역할모델의 중요성을 확인할 수 있었다. 나아가 탐색적 수준에서 진행된 본 연구는 역할모델, 지각된 자기효능감, 심리적 특성 사이에 정(+)의 관계가 있음을 실증 확인함으로써 이론의 발전에도 기여하였다. 실증분석결과, 먼저 역할모델은 심리적 특성의 다섯 가지 하위 요인과 모두 정(+)의 관계에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 위험감수성향과 성취욕구가 역할모델로부터 가장 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 나머지 세 개의 하위요인인 통제의 위치, 애매모호함에 대한 관용, 혁신성 등도 모두 유의한 정(+)의 관계에 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 역할모델이 전반적으로 청년들의 심리적 특성을 강화시켜 주는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 지각된 자기효능감도 대학생들의 심리적 특성과 정(+)의 관계에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 흥미로운 발견은 지각된 자기효능감이 다섯 가지 심리적 특성 하위요인 중 통제의 위치 요인에 가장 큰 영향을 미친다는 것이었다. 지각된 자기효능감은 심리적 특성의 나머지 네 개의 하위요인들과도 모두 유의한 정(+)의 관계에 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 실증분석결과는 역할모델이 지각된 자기효능감과 심리적 특성에도 영향을 미침으로써 대학생들의 기업가정신 함양에 유의한 영향을 미친다는 사실을 실증하였다는 측면에서 의미를 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라 기업가정신의 주요변수로서 역할모델을 중요성을 재확인하였다는 점에서도 중요한 의의를 갖는다고 할 수 있다. 결론적으로 역할모델은 청년대학생들의 창업에 대한 자신감과 심리적 특성을 강화시켜 줌으로써 창업활동을 촉진시킬 수 있다는 점에서 기업가정신 함양을 위해 역할모델을 핵심 교육수단으로써 활용할 것을 시사점으로 제시해 두었다.

Role model has been acknowledged as a crucial determinant of entrepreneurial career choice. However, there has been a little empirical research to verify the importance of role model for undergraduates. The purpose of this study is to test the effect of role model on perceived self-efficacy and psychological traits of undergraduates. Total 446 university students participated in the study from Korea and China. Hierarchical regression method (SPSS, PASW statistic 18 version) was employed to examine the established hypotheses. Our finding presents that role model has a positive effect on all five sub-dimensions of psychological traits. Particularly, both risk-taking propensity and need for achievement were influenced most strongly by role model. The rest three dimensions, locus of control, tolerance of ambiguity, and innovativeness have positive relationships with role model, too. Thus, we suggest that role model would help young people strengthen overall psychological traits. Role model also impacts perceived self-efficacy positively. Simultaneously, perceived self-efficacy influences all five sub- dimensions of psychological traits positively. Particularly, locus of control is impacted most strongly. Perceived self-efficacy affected need for achievement, risk-taking propensity, tolerance of ambiguity, and innovativeness all significantly. From practical standpoint, it becomes obvious that role model is an effective agent for fostering entrepreneurship of young people, and so, the agent needs to be capitalized broadly for promoting entrepreneurship of university students. Further, given the fact this study is based on Korean and Chinese university students, role model must be a powerful means to foster entrepreneurship, regardless of geographical region or different cultural background. Consequently, we suggest that role model should take an essential part in entrepreneurship promotion program not only for university students but secondary school students. Complementary pedagogy incorporated role model can contribute to promoting entrepreneurship on the top of entrepreneurship education. Since role model can allow students to interrelate their specialized knowledge with a specific field, it may serve as the core source of entrepreneurial ideas, too.
