The purpose of this study is to examine how art therapy relieves internal stress and affects adaptation to school centered on refugee students. 12 sessions of art therapy was enforced among 4 elementary school students of both genders who were staying at ‘H (ㅎ)’ institute, which is a settlement supporting facility for refugees. SCL-90-R(Symptom Check List-90-Revision) and a questionnaire on adaptation to school were done as test instruments. An ex-ante ex-post examination was enforced with the collected data for quantitative analysis. The average and standard deviation of the results were produced. A t-test was done to examine the significance. Quantitative analysis was done by drawing trees, KFD (kynetic familiy drawing), and KSD (kynetic school drawing). From the study results, we were able to realize that art therapy gives a positive influence on relieving internal stress and adapting to school. If art therapy is continued as a tool for helping desirable school life of refugee children according to these results, it could be considered as a way of guidance for teachers who instruct those children.
